Will I ever be able to foster again?
This depends upon the decision of the Fostering Panel or any further appeal. The Panel needs to hear all the information and evidence available. This includes the Foster Carers perspective which must be succinct and cohesive in order to illustrate the complete picture.
Fostering Support Ltd can support you throughout the process of the Department writing its report and making its decision at Fostering Panel.
It is vital that foster carers have support at this stage, as you can be so emotional about what has happened that decisions are left and deadlines missed. This can have a serious impact on the resultant decisions made by the Fostering Panel, which can lead to the Department for Education and Skills (DfES) referring your for listing on the Protection of Children Act List (PoCAL).
Certainly if you are 'listed' you will not be allowed to foster or work with children in any setting until such time that your appeal against listing is upheld. Appeals can only be heard after 10 years if the listing is confirmed by the Secretary of State or the PoCAL Tribunal.
